Garage doors need to be updated and replaced when they begin to break down.

Galvanized Doors and Custom Commercial Garage Doors

Commercial use of garage doors is not standardized, since there are so many different uses and a great number of businesses with different needs. Commercial garage doors are almost always larger and always customized for specific purposes. Tilt-up garage doors are impractical for use with trucks, so sectional doors and rolling doors are the most common.

Insulation is an important factor when building or installing a commercial garage door. Depending upon the nature of the garage that is having a door installed, you will want different levels of insulation. For warmer climates, you can have as thin a door as is necessary, for hot weather at for a lower price. If your business is in a colder climate that needs a garage kept warm, insulation in a door up to 2 inches thick should be adequate.

The most common commercial doors are large, strong, and thick. They are constructed from galvanized steel, have extra layers of foam polyurethane insulation, and have baked-on vinyl glazing. Some specialty commercial doors available:

Rolling Doors
These doors are made from aluminum or stainless steel and can be rolled up to save space. They give little insulation but offer good protection. They are also available in grille form.

Total Glass
While more expensive, total glass garage doors add flair and aesthetic value to a storefront. They are excellent for gas stations or other areas where your garage is on display.

Fire Doors
Garage doors designated as fire doors are necessary when certain businesses or substances are to be found in a garage. They require a government rating, and have a built-in sensor that causes an automatic lockdown when temperatures on one side reach a certain temperature.
